The I love Kensington Association (Ilka) committee invites residents from Kensington and the surrounding suburbs to join them and local churches in celebrating the start of the Christmas season at this year’s Community Carol Service on November 29.

Bring a picnic basket and join in the fun on the top fields of Jeppe High School for Boys. The school grounds will be open for free, secure parking from 6pm.

The Philharmonic Choir will provide early musical entertainment, followed by a carol service commencing from 7pm. Candles and song sheets will be on sale for R10 and residents can purchase one of the famous Lions Christmas cakes at the same time.

Children are encouraged to dress up as shepherds, angels or kings to participate in a nativity pageant, together with the Miss Kensington Spring Queen winners of 2014.

Diarise the event and invite friends and family to this wonderful evening of communal singing and entertainment, to get you into the Christmas spirit.

No alcohol may be consumed on the school grounds.

A collection of non-perishable foods will be collected, for distribution to local charities.
