Kings of rugby visit Queens

New Zealand Rugby (NZR) and UNICEF announced an international partnership in June this year, which will see the All Blacks, and all other New Zealand Rugby teams, supporting UNICEF's work in improving the lives of children and communities around the world.

Queens High School pupils had the privilege of meeting All Blacks rugby players on Friday, when players including Kieran Read and Keven Mealamu visited the school.

The New Zealand Rugby players visited the school to interact with pupils and teachers.

During the visit, the group also participated in an anti-bullying dialogue with the pupils. The players also took part in running some rugby drills with pupils.

New Zealand Rugby (NZR) and UNICEF announced an international partnership in June this year, which will see the All Blacks, and all other New Zealand Rugby teams, supporting UNICEF’s work in improving the lives of children and communities around the world.

The partnership between NZR and UNICEF brings together two of the most highly-respected global brands, harnessing the power of sport to raise awareness and funds for the world’s most vulnerable and excluded children.

The new partners share a common vision of sport and play as being essential to the health, happiness and well-being of children and young people.

The two groups feel these are key tools for teaching strong values and important life skills. Both organisations also believe in the power of sport to inspire and unite people behind a common goal, in this case, children.
