Eastgate winner talks about trip to Italy

Ms Ward said winning the competition was one of the highlights of her modelling career. Her all expenses paid trip to Italy was an eye-opener.

The winner of last year’s Miss Eastgate Look of Fashion, Ms Brittany Ward, returned from her trip to Italy last Tuesday, September 30, with much fanfare.

The NEWS caught up with Ms Ward and Ms Belinda Schreuder, the winner of Miss Rivonia 2014, during their brief appearance at the Eastgate Shopping Centre after landing.

Ms Ward said winning the competition was one of the highlights of her modelling career. Her all expenses paid trip to Italy was an eye-opener.

“The people are friendly and helpful. We learnt a lot about the country’s language and cuisine,” she said.

Ms Ward is a grade 12 pupil at Edenvale’s Holy Rosary School and plans to study occupational therapy at university next year.

The 18-year-old’s mother, Mrs Debby Ward, said she was ecstatic and proud of her daughter.

“We, as a family, are happy she had the opportunity to enter and win the competition, as well as to travel to Italy,” said Mrs Ward.

She added that her wish was for her daughter to concentrate on completing her matric and then to obtain a degree before pursuing a career in modelling.

Asked about the highlights of the trip, Ms Schreuder said she enjoyed going to photo shoots and doing interviews with different media houses.

“Being able to go on this trip simply meant the world to me,” she said.

While in Italy, the girls took part in the Ragazza Cinema OK pageant, where Ms Schreuder won First Princess Best Model. Ms Ward took home the Second Princess Eleganza title.

Ms Ward will relinquish her crown on October 17 at the finale of this year’s instalment of the competition, which is be held at the mall’s Strelitzia Court.
