  1. At least they are doing maintenance. That makes a change, rather than just leaving it to disintegrate. Encouraging.

  2. It is unbelievable how dependent on electric current our economy is! Everything would ground to a halt without this vital ‘lifeblood’. We should learn to appreciate this valuable resource a lot more. We need to remind ourselves that everyday tens of thousands of miners travel to the heart of the earth in search for the vital coal that is responsible for producing our electricity. It is actually scary how dependent we are on coal and oil. Coal to fire our power stations and oil to power our cars. Not to mention the impact this has on the environment and atmosphere. I don’t want to imagine the horror of the distant future when these resources will eventually run dry… What will humanity do then??? We are facing a grim future… I can’t help not thinking negatively about the end of this energy age!!!

  3. I’m no rocket scientist but I see so many residential developments taking place on a yearly basis. At the moment there are proposals to develop the land around the Rietfontein Hospital. So I’m not surprised why the Kelvin power station is struggling to meet this tremendous demand for electricity. The scary thing is that more and more developments and cluster complexes are going to appear in the years ahead. A point will be reached when the Kelvin power station will no longer be able to cope. We either need an extra power station or a significant expansion of the existing one…

  4. They said from 06h00 to 18h00………It went of 06h15 and its now 19h27 and still no electricity. This is ridiculous. If they give a time they should be accordingly……………
