Fraudster nabbed at Eastgate

The man was arrested, is current detained at the Bedfordview SAPS and is due to appear in the Germiston Court.

The Bedfordview SAPS confirmed that a man was arrested for fraud at an Eastgate retail shop on Thursday, September 11, at 6pm.

According to the Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, “The arrest was made after an on-duty employee at the shop was monitoring the CCTV cameras. The employee received a call from management about a customer attempting to buy cellular phones with a fraudulent card. The employee was told to stop the transaction,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.

The employee rushed to the purchasing till and found a male suspect attempting to buy two cellular phones with a combined value of R3 100. The employee confronted the man and called the police.

The man was arrested, is current detained at the Bedfordview SAPS and is due to appear in the Germiston Court.
