The Sebenza SAPS confirmed that an attempted carjacking took place on Thursday, September 4, on Satynhout Street in Esther Park.
“The male victim arrived at his home when he was approached by a man with a firearm attempting to steal his Toyota vehicle. The suspect demanded his cellular phone and cash, and told the victim to exit his vehicle,” said the Sebenza SAPS communications officer, Constable Sharon Mahamba.
“When the suspect entered the vehicle, he could not start it. After he failed to start the vehicle a number of times, the suspect exited the vehicle, ran away and jumped over a nearby fence,” said Const Mahamba. Investigations are ongoing and no arrests have been made.
