Glitz and glam at SATY 2014 finals

Edenvale’s Tiles4Change was nominated as a finalist in the Campaign of the Year category of the awards.

The star-studded gala evening for the South African of the Year Awards, hosted by ANN7, took place on Saturday night at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Edenvale’s Tiles4Change was nominated as a finalist in the Campaign of the Year category of the awards.

The event was attended by the who’s who, from sports, entertainment, politics and business.

Some of the guests for the evening included Basetsana Khumalo, Advocate George Bizos, Rivonia trialist Andrew Mlangeni and Miss South Africa Rolene Strauss.

The event aimed to celebrate the achievements and contributions of extra-ordinary South Africans.

The night featured performances from international stars, Ella Henderson and Nicole Scherzinger, as well as top local performers Lira, Zahara, Mafikizolo and Mi Casa.

The South African of the Year Award went to Advocate Thuli Madonsela, while Mafikizolo walked away with the award for South Africa’s Trendsetting Celebrities of the Year.

The award for Business Person of the Year went to Patrice Motsepe and Sandile Kubheka walked away with the award for Young South African Of The year.

The Campaign of the Year was awarded to 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela, while the Protea’s cricket captain, Hashim Amla, was awarded the Sports Person of the Year Award.

The Spirit of Humanity was awarded to John Pearlman’s Dreamfields Project.

Lifetime Achievement Awards were handed to Andrew Mlangeni, Richard Maponya, Advocate George Bizos, Mama Gertrude Shope and Sophia Williams-De Bruyn.
