70% of Edenvale without power
Repairs are estimated to take an extended period of time due to the complexity of the situation.
Approximately 70 percent of Edenvale will be without power until further notice.
At approximately 4.30am this morning, the Northrand supply cable in Edenvale tripped.
The power outage has affected the Edenvale CBD, Edenvale, Eastleigh, Eastleigh Ridge, Glendower and its extensions and Dowerglen and its extensions.
According to Eskom, technical teams were dispatched to the site to assess the extent of the damaged caused.
“Consequently, extensive planning and execution are required to restore supply to the affected areas, which is estimated to take an extended period of time due to the complexity of the situation,” Eskom said in a media statement.
Eskom also apologised for the inconvenience caused.

Funny that the whole of boksburg and surrounding areas had EXACTLY the same bullsh*t over the weekend and they blame it on tripping. that is their excuse that they feed the media with! an absolute joke.

Try running a 28 room guest house with no power for 17 hours, so much for rotation!!!Thank goodness we cook with gas.
We are all being fed lies. I just called the Eskom Call centre number given in the article amd they have NO knowledge of this so someone is making up stories. Rotational load shedding is not possible on a faulty cable so that is another lie. Maybe a nice peak hour road protest is on the cards.
Marais Steyn park has been off for more than a day now, after being on and off since sunday. Looks like my new hobby is watching groceries rot due to no fridge/freezers. Is Eskom going to replace all the spoilt food caused by this “inconvenience”? Eskom/Ekurhuleni is useless.
