Mandela Day celebrated

The trail is aimed at bringing the community together in celebration of Mandela’s legacy

St Andrew’s School will celebrate Mandela Day by hosting the annual Eco Ridge Trail on Saturday, July 19.

The trail is aimed at bringing the community together in celebration of Mandela’s legacy and forms part of the school’s Ubambiswano social development programme.

The Eco Ridge Trail will feature four events, a 10.78 kilometre Eco trail run, a 10.78 kilometre Eco walk, a 4.6664 kilometre walk and a 670 metre toddler dash.

Entertainment for children will be available and food and beverages will be on sale. The St Andrew’s Schools Ubambiswano Initiative is an independently-funded Saturday school programme for disadvantaged children. The school’s annual fundraiser is an Eco Trail hike for the community near Linksfield Ridge.

The initiative is aimed at playing an active and meaningful role in transforming society and making a meaningful contribution to education by addressing some of the critical needs of pupils and teachers. @bedfordedenvale
