SAPS gets cellular phones

The handover, organised by the Bedfordview CPF, is aimed at assisting the SAPS in creating more effective communication.

The Bedfordview Community Police Forum (CPF) handed over cellular phones to the Bedfordview SAPS on Wednesday, June 25.

The handover, organised by the Bedfordview CPF, is aimed at assisting the SAPS in creating more effective communication.

“A problem facing law enforcement is that officers have to use their personal belongings for service purposes at a cost to them. We decided to sponsor the SAPS with cellular phones with the interest of speeding up their service to the community,” said the Bedfordview CPF chairman, Mr Gavin Henry.

“The cellular phones will be monitored to ensure they are used for on-duty purposes. This sponsorship will help improve the communication between the sector officers, thus leading to speedier action,” said Mr Henry.

The Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi said, “The Bedfordview SAPS thanks the CPF for this sponsorship. This will help create better coordination between the three SAPS sectors in Bedfordview.” @BedfordJourno
