Drug mule to talk

He spent over 18 years in Thailand’s notorious Bangkwang Central Prison after being arrested in Thailand in 1994 for carrying 2.2 kilogrammes of heroin.

Mr Shani Krebs knows how a person’s life can be destroyed by drugs, but he also knows it is possible to stop using and start afresh.

He spent over 18 years in Thailand’s notorious Bangkwang Central Prison after being arrested in Thailand in 1994 for carrying 2.2 kilogrammes of heroin.

Mr Krebs’ time in jail changed him and when he was released in 2012, he was determined to help as many addicts as possible discover that a drug-free life is within their reach.

Today, he is an author and motivational speaker.

Last month, his memoir Dragons and Butterflies was published.

The Rand Aid Association-run Wedge Gardens treatment centre is hosting a talk by Mr Krebs on Thursday, June 26, for its halfway house patients, in-patients and interested members of the public.

The venue is Whitney Road, Whitney Gardens, Johannesburg, and the event starts at 6:30pm for 7pm.

Entry to the event is free.
