Porn slip up in class

The NEWS contacted Edenglen High School, which acknowledged the incident but referred the paper to the Gauteng Department of Education for comment.

Investigations are underway after pupils at Edenglen High School were exposed to a pornographic website.

According to one parent, a letter was sent out by the school apologising for the incident.

“My daughter said one of her teachers was surfing a porn site, not realising that his workstation was still connected to the projector,” said the father.

The NEWS contacted Edenglen High School, which acknowledged the incident but referred the paper to the Gauteng Department of Education for comment.

The Gauteng Department of Education’s spokesperson, Ms Phumla Sekhonyane, told online media that parents have complained.

“We reported the incident to the department on Tuesday and notified the teacher of the intention to suspend him. He has 48 hours to respond,” she said.

  2. Seriously, the South African government legalised underage sex where it is acceptable at 13 to have sex and a teacher watching porn is an issue???? Really???

  3. I am not excusing the teacher using school resources to surf porn.Inappropriate use of school resources is simply a no-no, even if all the teacher did was to use the school resources to get to a social media website.

    Nonenetheless I fail to see why the school did not have a firewall on their server to prevent such incidents happening(learners themselves may surf porn while their teachers are not looking).On the other hand if the teacher concerned bypassed the firewall using his “status”as a web administrator for example, then he should be fired , period
