Naledi Pandor addresses HIP Alliance

The aim of the meeting was to discuss the key policies of the ANC for the next five years and to explore reasons as to why members of the HIP Alliance should vote for the ANC.

The Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Naledi Pandor, was the guest speaker at a meeting the Hellenic, Italian and Portuguese Alliance (HIP Alliance).

The meeting on April 30 took place with members of the ANC at the Italian Club in Bedfordview.

The aim of the meeting was to discuss the key policies of the ANC for the next five years and to explore reasons as to why members of the HIP Alliance should vote for the ANC.

The senior executive and chairman of the HIP Alliance, Mr Stavros Nicholaou, welcomed the members and guests to the meeting.

“We as the ANC have indicated that we wish to retain our focus on five key areas that we have identified as priorities. These will be the thrust of the ANC’s policy implementation over the next five years,” said Dr Pandor.

“These five key areas are health, education, job creation and economic growth, creating a safer society and rural development,” she said.

Dr Pandor discussed the ANC’s plans into improving these five sectors and gave insight on how the ANC has done over the past 20 years.

She also emphasised the three main issues currently affecting South Africa’s democracy and how the ANC intends on combating the issues.

“The most difficult challenges faced by South African are poverty, inequality and joblessness. If these issues are not confronted decisively, we threaten our democracy’s existence,” said Dr Pandor.

Following Dr Pandor’s presentation, members of the HIP Alliance asked the minister questions relating to the plans and policies of the ANC.

Dr Pandor answered the questions and noted the concerns, indicating that she would provide feedback to members of the HIP Alliance. @BedfordJourno
