SAPS warns of increase in fraud

The teller and retail manager discovered that the card being used was fraudulent.

The Bedfordview SAPS is warning residents about an increase in fraud at stores and shopping complexes.

According to the Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, there has been a surge in arrests related to fraud at stores.

“Another woman was arrested this month for attempting to purchase items fraudulently,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.

The teller and retail manager discovered that the card being used was fraudulent. The police were called and the woman was arrested.

A case of fraud was opened against her.

“Card fraud is a serious offence and community members should think twice before committing fraud,” said Sgt Nhlabthi.
