Four nabbed for copper theft

Investigations are currently underway to see if any other suspects are involved with the theft.

An alert security guard provided a tip off of the Bedfordview SAPS which resulted in the arrest of four men for copper cable theft on April 12.

Police officers found four suspects with plastic bags containing stolen copper cables.

“This is another example of how security officials, community members and police officials, can work together to combat crime. It is everyone’s duty to be the eyes and ears of the SAPS when they see criminal acts,” said the Bedfordview SAPS communications officer Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi.

Investigations are currently underway to see if any other suspects are involved with the theft.

The four suspects are expected to appear at the Germiston Magistrate’s Court for theft.
