Tetyana introduces Don Sphynx SA

She said cats warm her heart. “Cats are special animals, they are independent but at the same time, loving and sweet-natured. They become real members of any family,” said Mrs Foward.

“I had my first cat when I was about six-years-old. My family was pet-loving; we always had dogs, cats, hamsters, lizards or turtles. A cat makes a house feel like a home.”

These are the sentiments of Mrs Tetyana Foward, who has decided to introduce the Don Sphynx breed of cats to South Africa.

She said cats warm her heart. “Cats are special animals, they are independent but at the same time, loving and sweet-natured. They become real members of any family,” said Mrs Foward.

According to Mrs Foward, every single cat has its own personality and character.

“I decided to introduce the Don Sphynx breed to South Africa when I learnt about their extremely friendly, human-loving and soft-hearted personality,” said Mrs Foward.

She said it was generally recognised that Sphynx breeds are the most loving of all the cat breeds, but the Don Sphynx was on the top of that list. She plans to introduce as many people as she can to what she described as “these unusual animals”.

“I believe the Don Sphynx can win the heart of the most sceptical person,” said Mrs Foward. She said she loves all animals and all breeds of cats. At the moment, she has 17 cats.

“Some of them are pure-breed Don Sphynx, Canadian Sphynx, Devon Rex, Oriental and Siamese. Half of them are rescues from the streets,” said Mrs Foward. She said all her cats are dear to her heart and they are treated like children by her family.

“The cats give back their sweet, unconditional love,” said Mrs Foward.

She highlighted the different perceptions that exist about cats in different countries and cultures. “Most people believe they bring bad luck. In eastern Europe, people bring the cat first when entering a new house and give newly weds a kitten for prosperity,” said Mrs Foward. She said it was concerning that in some cultures, they are still believed to be evil. “I could never imagine how this sweet and kind animal could hurt anyone. I wish people would try and get to know these magical animals, which were once worshipped as Gods in Egypt and now bring their love to people all over the world,” said Mrs Foward.
