Edenvale drivers better than Bedfordview drivers

Recently, on a Friday evening on my way home from the Eastgate Shopping Centre, I drove up the one-way street next to the Bedford Centre.

EDITOR – I have had the opportunity to work in both Bedfordview and Edenvale.

I can honestly say that I prefer the drivers in Edenvale over Bedfordview, and my commute is further than it was in Bedfordview.

The amount of times other drivers blatantly ignored the rules of the road in Bedfordview was unreasonable.

Recently, on a Friday evening on my way home from the Eastgate Shopping Centre, I drove up the one-way street next to the Bedford Centre.

I came to the stop street by the entrance to Bedford Square. There were no cars so I proceeded. I had to slam on my brakes after a woman in a Kia Picanto flew over the speed bump and ignored the stop street, not even slowing down.

She then drove in front of me, moved off to the left lane by the townhouses and came back into my lane with me right next to her. I had to slam on my brakes once again. She then totally ignored the next stop street and turned left. I decided to carry on straight because I value my life too much.

On the following Sunday evening, I was again driving home from the Eastgate Shopping Centre on Bradford Road.

I was in the right lane as I was coming up to the intersection by Bedford Centre and I wanted to go straight. Someone in a white, Golf GTi, without a number plate, overtook me on the right while the left lane was completely open. He did not have to go over a solid line into oncoming traffic to overtake me but he did.

He happened to be going in the same direction. Again, at the stop street at Bedford Centre, he did not even slow down and just drove through.

Those are just some examples of the recklessness the rest of us have to endure. I bet these same people who ignore the rules of the road are the first to complain about crime. For me, when someone drives recklessly, they are knowingly ignoring the rules of the road and that makes them an attempted murderer.

A person cannot drive like that and think they are untouchable – which they do think. Accidents can happen even to the best drivers in the world. The worst part is, the innocent always pay for the guilty’s mistakes.
