EMM driver caught breaking the law

The driver of the vehicle merely stopped there, waited for the light to change green and then pushed his way over to his right, crossing the barrier line and then proceeded to cross over the R24 to Edenvale.

EDITOR – We took a picture of an Ekurhuleni municipal vehicle at the intersection of Edenvale Road and the R24 West on-ramp in February, shortly before 7.30am.

The vehicle in question was in the far left lane. At point, it is a left-turn lane only.

The lanes are clearly marked and are separated from the lane on the right by a solid barrier line.

The driver of the vehicle merely stopped there, waited for the light to change green and then pushed his way over to his right, crossing the barrier line and then proceeded to cross over the R24 to Edenvale.

As we travel this road daily, this is not an isolated incident. This is done by several motorists every morning but more specifically, by taxis which are even so bold as to push in next to the front vehicles standing at the robots.

The traffic officials use to stand on the bridge watching for this but have not been looking out for this in months.

This is a huge frustration for motorists crossing from the N12 on Edenvale Road into Edenvale, as the traffic backs up past the Meadowdale Mall entrance due to these people pushing in and crossing the barrier lines.

Please could this be highlighted to the traffic authorities?

CHARL BERNING,

MOTORIST.
