Rotary club of Bedfordview to volunteer at Klopperpark
The Family Health Days are a comprehensive, holistic offering of free healthcare for parents, children, grandparents, friends and all family members in over 143 sites across the country. Approximately 4 000 Rotarians from 225 Rotary Clubs will be volunteering between 9am and 4pm daily.
The Rotary club of Bedfordview will be involved in the Rotary Family Health Days (RFHD).
This is when civil society, big business and government departments team up to promote family health and create awareness around polio, HIV/Aids, Tuberculosis (TB) and other non-communicable diseases from April 2 to April 4.
The Rotary Club of Bedfordview’s volunteers will be involved at the Klopperpark site and, together with several NPOs, they will mobilise the community into action to attract citizens to the event.
“The Rotary Club of Bedfordview is proud and excited to be involved along with some other local clubs in this major project for the second time. Last year was the first event in South Africa and once again we are hoping to reach many people from the local community to provide free health services to them,” said Mr Ferdi Heyneke from the Rotary Club of Bedfordview.
Other services which will be on offer, free of charge, over the three days will include TB symptomatic screening, diabetes and blood pressure screening, measles vaccinations, deworming and the dispensing of Vitamin A.
The project is an initiative of Rotarians for Family Health and Aids Prevention, Incorporated, and is a global Rotarian Action Group and mobilising partner of Rotary International.
