Murder suspect to appear in court

Her throat was cut, she had stab wounds and her feet and hands were tied with electrical cords, according to Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer.

The man arrested in connection with the murder of a waitress in Kensington last year will appear in court on March 17.

The EXPRESS reported last year that the body of Ms Natalie Dube (25), a Malvern resident, was found at the Rusty Lady Deli Bistro on July 9 by a colleague.

Her throat was cut, she had stab wounds and her feet and hands were tied with electrical cords, according to Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer.

It was reported that Ms Dube was asked by one of the managers to remain behind after work to do stocktaking because she was late. She did so. The next morning, Ms Dube “did not arrive” at work.

Her family had last seen her the day before. She was reported missing later that day. Her body was later found by a waitress at the business.

Following investigations, police officers went to a flat in Kensington searching for a suspect. At the time, Const Mashakane said there was blood in the room but the suspect was not there.

The suspect, a manager at the store, was arrested at a hotel in Edenvale the same day. At the time of his arrest, he was out on parole for rape according to Const Mashakane.
