Boy arrested for possession of drugs

A 17-year-old school pupil was arrested at his high school in Edenvale on February 27 for being in possession of drugs.

The acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said the boy’s arrest took place during a search of the school premises with members of the K9 Unit.

“The child was taken to the Edenvale Police Station where he was released into the custody of his parents,” said Lt Col Roberts.

He warned children to not do drugs.

“The SAPS, Karaglen Spar, the Bedfordview and Edenvale News and Pizzazz Entertainment started the Tiles4Change initiative for exactly this purpose. We want to see children stop using drugs. We want to see children being more active and more involved in the community,” said Lt Col Roberts.

“It is heart-breaking to have to hand a child over to their parents after they were caught with drugs. It is even more distressing when children are caught with drugs in school,” he added.
