North Rand Scouts celebrate BP Sunday

The event was organised by the Jan Smuts Scouts and hosted at thee venue of Eastleigh Sea Scouts. The event was well attended by the cubs and scouts in the Northrand District.

Lord Robert Baden-Powell, was born on February 22, 1857, and started the Scout Movement in 1907.

His birthday is celebrated each year on the nearest Sunday to his birthday with a BP Sunday event. The Nine Scout Groups that form the Northrand Scouting District celebrated Lord Baden- Powell’s birthday on Sunday February 23.

The event was organised by the Jan Smuts Scouts and hosted at thee venue of Eastleigh Sea Scouts. The event was well attended by the cubs and scouts in the Northrand District.

This district encompasses Edenvale, Bedfordview and a group based in Kensington. Scouts and Cubs were entertained with the “Hunger Games”, where challenges such as Chariot Building, Ladder Relays, Balloon Fights and Tug of War were enjoyed by all. Thanks went out to the Jan Smuts Rovers and Scouters for the contribution they made towards the success of the day.
