Edenvale SAPS assists in Kempton Park drug bust

The bust took place on Sunday last week and resulted in three arrests.

Members of Edenvale SAPS’ crime prevention unit assisted with a special operation which led to the discovery of a drug lab in Kempton Park.

According to provincial spokesperson for the SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Katlego Mogale, police officers made the arrests at a smallholding in Kempton Park following a tip-off.

One man tried to run away when he saw police arriving, dropping a bag containing about a kilogram of khat, a plant, in the process.

During a search of the premises, two more people, including a man believed to be a priest, were arrested.

Police found cocaine, chemicals, and other drugs in the house as well as an estimated R1-million worth of equipment.
