The NEWS has announced its partnership with Holy Rosary High School to host the Ride for a Purpose campaign.

Ride for a Purpose is an outreach and community event, aimed at raising awareness of domestic violence.

The event is spearheaded by Holy Rosary School debutante and Grade 10 pupil Amy Driver, to commemorate her aunt who was stabbed to death by her husband in 2010.

The event will culminate in a JMPD-supervised motorbike rally from Holy Rosary School to Hartebeespoort Dam on March 30.

On the day, the mass ride will depart from Holy Rosary School’s Shanahan Park in Adjutant Road, Elma Park, at 9am.

Booking to take part in the event is essential and all bookings will close on March 20.

The entrance fee for the event is R250 per person, which includes a Sunday carvery at the Route 66 Saloon and Diner in Hartebeespoort.

There will also be party busses available for individuals and group bookings.

Bus passengers will also pay R250 and children under 12 pay R100, which also includes a carvery meal.

All busses will leave Route 66 at 2pm to return to Edenvale.

The charity which will benefit from this initiative will be the Jes Foord Foundation.
