Restaurant patron uses drugs in public

One man was arrested on drug-related charges after he was caught using khat at a CBD restaurant.

Acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said community members called the Edenvale SAPS after they witnessed the man using khat at the restaurant.

“The man was sitting at a table in the restaurant using khat, in public and in full view of other patrons and children,” he said.

“The man was searched and found in possession of a bag of khat. He was arrested on the spot,” said Lt Col Roberts.

The man appeared in the Edenvale Magistrate’s Court on Monday last week.
