Rates and taxes policy under review

City officials said that suggestions and recommendations are important to them. The city has to consult with residents with regards to the drafting of the rates policy before implementation according to the Municipal Property Rates Act 6 of 2004.

The City of Johannesburg’s (CoJ) rates and taxes policy for 2014/15 is under review.

The CoJ reviews its rates policy annually to determine categories of properties, which will then be rated according to a tariff.

Ratepayers and interested parties are invited and encouraged to get involved in the drafting of the 2014/15 rates policy.
