AECI land sold to Chinese developer
Sandton is not enough for the future. His priority plan will pave the way to a new future for Africa.
Chairman of Shanghai Zendai, Mr Dai Zhikang explained yesterday that his aim is to turn the land into the next biggest central business district in the country.
He said that Sandton is not enough for the future, but that his priority plan will pave the way to a new future for Africa.
“The plan is to develop five million square metres (of the trade and finance centre),” said Mr Zhikang.
He said it would be about three to five times bigger than Sandton.
Shanghai Zendai plans develop industries and create new employment, nearly 22 000 jobs are proposed.
Open spaces will play host to sports facilities that will cater for rugby and football.
“The majority of the land will be developed for families, in the hopes to develop it into an international community,” said Mr Zhikang.
On the map below the blue areas indicate land bought by the Chinese developer.
Modderfontein Reserve, shown in green, will remain property of AECI and will not be developed.
The area in red is the AECI Mining Services land.
