An Edenvale Football Club coach will travel overseas in an effort to broaden the club’s appeal.

Edenvale resident, veteran footballer and coach for 10 years, Tony Dias, has plans to make associations with the Espanyol Football Club in Barcelona.

He will travel to Barcelona in December, where he will have discussions with several coaches, from junior teams to senior teams. Tony will also observe the club’s teams in action.

“I was approached by the overseas team and asked if the Edenvale Football Club would like to make ties with them,” said Tony.

Tony hopes the meetings will make it possible for aspiring Edenvale players to make a name for themselves overseas with the prestigious Barcelona club. “We have plans to bring a few of their coaches to Edenvale to assist with clinics. If the plans we have go ahead, one of their coaches will tour here in March 2014,” said Tony.
