Toastmasters get Red Ribbons

A Red Ribbon inscribed with the words “President’s Distinguished Club 2012-2013” was presented to the Village Toastmasters Club by Toastmasters International at the September meeting.

Red Ribbons have long been awarded as visual displays marking high levels of performance and achievement.

This Red Ribbon will take its place as part of the Village Toastmasters Club banner displayed at every club meeting.

Kevin Mann selected and discussed the word of the evening and made the point that the good South African word “trek” now forms an integral part of the English language, not only in South Africa.

Laurence Newman did a presentation on his trek to Central America with its colourful buses, ferries, fish, coral, cuisine and living fences (supported by live trees).

Zelda Botes received an award which recognised her as a Competent Communicator.

Village Toastmasters Club meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm in the large hall of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in St David Road, Elma Park, Edenvale. For more information, contact Theo Swart on 011 452-3884 or 082 626 0825.
