Pedestrian shocked by road rage

As a pedestrian I recently had the opportunity to witness several potentially harmful actions of road-rage from the sidelines.
So I thought I should share my experiences.
Recently at 7am, at the Van Riebeeck Avenue intersection with Greenstone Drive, I witnessed something that left me extremely shocked and at the same time puzzled.
Road rage has become the norm on South African roads.
I was waiting for a taxi from Greenstone to Edenvale when suddenly I heard a loud thud coming from across the road.
This was followed by the sound of shattering glass.
When I looked up I saw two vehicles waiting at the traffic light for the red light to turn green. One of the cars was a taxi with only the driver. The taxi was stopped behind the white line. Behind the taxi was a silver Tata Indica.
What caught my attention was that the driver of the small silver Tata left the comfort of his car in order to deliver what appeared to be a lesson to the taxi driver.
The reason though, remains a mystery to me.
The driver of the Indica then took what seemed to be a victory walk back to his car, leaving the taxi driver scurrying for safety to the passenger’s seat to escape both the shattered glass which was now falling off the driver’s door and the Indica’s driver.
I was left debating about what could have prompted this somewhat violent event.
Drivers, are we losing our mind on the road?
