EMPD embarks on an awareness campaign this Transport Month

“With so many road fatalities, the EMPD intends to encourage and educate commuters about playing safe on our roadways and for motorists, to adhere to rules of the road.”

The official launch of this year’s Transport Month, with the theme ‘Siyakha, we are building’, was made by Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga on October 4.

“The EMPD will also be conducting awareness campaigns during this month. The aim is to promote awareness of integrated public transport, smart licensing centres in townships and road safety programmes within the City of Ekurhuleni,” said EMPD spokesperson Kelebogile Thepa.

According to Thepa, transportation plays a crucial role in our economy through efficient, reliable and safe public transportation.
