Edenvale Police hold Imbizo at Eastleigh Primary School

“The SAPS further committed to dealing with the community’s concerns with the utmost importance.”

The Edenvale SAPS recently hosted an imbizo at Eastleigh Primary School.

Held on September 8, the Edenvale Police Station’s communications officer, Warrant Officer Jacob Mashile, described the event as a fruitful community engagement event.

Midweek build-up activities preceded the imbizo at Eastleigh Primary School’s boardroom.

Mashile said the imbizos included awareness campaigns and visits to schools.

“The Edenvale SAPS and stakeholders spent time engaging with learners on liquor and drug abuse and gender-based violence,” he explained.

Mashile said the imbizo aimed to interact with the community on issues relating to SAPS service delivery, client satisfaction and community involvement.

Officers from the Edenvale Police Station and Gauteng Crime Prevention Wardens attended the imbizo.

“The community raised pertinent issues of concern, and the Edenvale SAPS took note of their concerns.”

During the imbizo, Mashile said they urged the community not to protect suspects from the law and report all criminal activities.

“The SAPS further committed to dealing with the community’s concerns with the utmost importance.

“The station promised that police officers will, in future, account for their actions of non-service to the community,” said Mashile.

He said the imbizo ended positively, with the community vowing to continue working with the SAPS to fight crime in their community.
