The residents of Bedfordview and Edenvale came together to raise funds for local hero Alex McLean, who courageously intervened and prevented a schoolgirl from being kidnapped.

The incident caused damage to McLean’s vehicle, but the Residents Action Group (RAG) swiftly organised a fundraising campaign to help him get back on his feet.

Expressing his gratitude, McLean said, “This moment is emotional and humbling for me.

“I did not anticipate this amount of support. I am shocked everyone came together for me. It is incredible knowing the community stands behind me.”

Collin McCrorie, the director of the RAG, said more residents contributed to the campaign after the Bedfordview and Edenvale News published an article.

“The article was shared online, and word spread of Alex’s selflessness. We thank the community for its generosity. Alex is truly a special person,” he said.

He also urged the community to be vigilant and report suspicious activities.
