Locals urged to attend or host a Cuppa for CANSA

Make a difference in the lives of cancer patients by supporting the Cuppa for CANSA initiative.

The Cancer Association of South Africa’s (CANSA) annual Cuppa for CANSA brought family, friends, colleagues and social groups together while supporting CANSA’s vital healthcare mission of fighting cancer.

Cuppa events raise funds for CANSA to offer early detection through cancer education, breast, prostate, and skin screenings, patient care and support that includes community home-based care, wig and medical equipment hire and stoma care assistance.

Participants can choose to host a Cuppa or attend as a guest.

Anita Snyders, CANSA’s national sustainability manager, said the initiative was one of their most popular campaigns because of the public’s support.

This year’s Cuppa theme is ‘With Friends – Like Teas’, expressing the fun, warm, caring and compassionate time that being with friends makes a person feel.

“One of my favourite sayings is, ‘Friendship is not about who you spend the most time with. It’s about who you have the best time with.’ I think Cuppa events embody this beautifully,” Snyders added.

According to the organisation, once diagnosed or indirectly affected, cancer patients, loved ones and caregivers need a friend.

CANSA committed to giving people with cancer information, resources, day-to-day help and emotional support for over 90 years.

The public was invited to host the event.

The first step is to register on the Cuppa for CANSA website or email adewitt@cansa.org.za.

Individuals and corporates can register as hosts.

A regional CANSA staff partner is assigned to provide support with the event.

Hosts can enter the national Cuppa for CANSA competition to win prizes. This competition is open for registration from this month.

The organisation thanked Five Roses, the official tea partner.

Hosts can host events under this year’s theme, ‘With Friends – Like Teas’, or choose their theme. Cuppas can also mark a special day or occasion, such as a birthday or anniversary, in aid of CANSA.
