City honours late councillors in wreath-laying ceremony

The remembrance tree carries the names of these councillors.

The City of Ekurhuleni held a wreath-laying ceremony on April 26 to honour 14 families of the late city councillors.

The event was held at the Tree of Remembrance outside the Germiston Civic Centre and it acknowledged councillors who died between 2020 to 2023.

City of Ekurhuleni held a wreath-laying ceremony on April 26 to honor 14 families of the late city councillors. The event was held at The Tree of Remembrance outside the Germiston Civic Centre.

 

During this period, the city lost 14 councillors, which includes former mayor Duma Nkosi and former MMC for Finance Moses Makwakwa.

Whip of Council Ald Jongizizwe Dlabathi delivered a tribute and words of encouragement to the families.

Other councillors acknowledged were Ald Bruce Reid, Clr Nomsa Phakathi, Clr Eva Ngcwana, Clr Simon Mokhethoa, Clr Albert Makhubela, Clr Greg Malebo, Clr Tshepiso Mondlane, Clr Zwelibanzi Ngwenya, Clr Sylvia Nhlabathi, Clr Peter Molapo and Ald Gerrie Kriek.
