The operation kicked off on March 30 on the corner of Village and Kloof roads and later proceeded to Elandsfontein.

Police officials took to the streets to fight crime.

The Gauteng acting provincial commissioner, Major General Tommy Mthombeni, headed the operation with the support of local police, the EMPD, CPFs, Home Affairs officials, and private security companies.

The operation aimed to assist the local police station with the reduction of crime.

Mthombeni said Bedfordview is among the stations faced with a high rate of car hijackings because it is located next to several highway entry and exit points.

“We also held another operation, which was intelligence-driven. It led to the arrest of people who were in possession of explosives.

“In Ekurhuleni, we have a problem with illegal mining and ATM bombings. Three suspects were arrested along the N12,” said Mthombeni.
