Germiston and Bedfordview SPCA calls for community support

Germiston and Bedfordview SPCA encourages the community to continue showing support.

The SPCA often requests the community to assist by making donations of animal food and monetary donations.

“We can only be as effective as the support we receive. With a massive area to cover, animals are being admitted into our SPCA 24/7 and with non-stop calls to collect unwanted animals, the Germiston Bedfordview SPCA needs the community to assist us in ensuring we can continue the important work we do,” said the chairperson Roxanne Bredenkamp.

“We have allocated bins at Bedford Centre outside the Pick n Pay, Pick n Pay Primrose Square Shopping Centre, Bedfordview Veterinary Hospital and 21 Concorde Road.

“Residents can drop off their donations at these bins.

“The community has reacted positively. Recently we collected all the donations from all the pick-up points,” said Bredenkamp.

“To make donations please contact us on 011 823 5033 during office hours,” said Bredenkamp.

Roxanne encouraged residents to also make monetary donations since their major monthly expenses include fuel costs, staff salaries and veterinary bills.

“We cover a large area, which means our vehicles are put under immense wear and tear. With the number of animals in our care and the large area we cover, we can do more with additional funds.

“We encourage the community to keep an eye on our Facebook page for upcoming events and fundraising initiatives.
