Communication officer for Cleveland Police Station Captain Johan Jordaan said the suspects were arrested during the early hours of February 6 after committing the crime the night before.

He said the suspects gained entry to the property after they, at gunpoint, forced the security guard on duty to open the gate.

Some of the recovered tyres are estimated to be worth R700 000.

Once the gate was open the guard was held at gunpoint inside the guard room.

Jordaan said the suspects drove three vehicles into the property, opened a container with new and old tyres and loaded these tyres onto the vehicles.

He said Cleveland SAPS was notified of the armed robbery at 00:20.
