According to Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, the station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, the Grade 12 learners were arrested after being picked up by Ivory Park SAPS sector supervisors.

It was discovered that they were in possession of an alternator and an overhead projector used by the school.

“The two suspects, aged 19 and 20, had the key to the school’s workshop cut, making it easy to gain entry into the workshop.

“In our police precinct, burglaries at schools are a concern that endangers other students’ ability to learn.

“This arrest will undoubtedly send a clear message to those who want to target schools for criminal intent,” said Ngcobo.

They are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon facing a charge of burglary.
