On August 24 the happy couple, in their early 90s, who live at Rand Aid’s Inyoni Creek Retirement Village, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

The couple met at a wedding, where Mike told Golda that same evening that he was going to marry her.

They got married at a shul in Greenside and had their reception in a hall attached to the shul.

The Britanys ran one of the first of five Mica stores in Gauteng for 30 years and have operated another two businesses as well.

“We both worked hard together all our lives, with no disagreements,” said Mike.

Their recipe for a successful marriage is communication.

Mike emphasised that it is critical.

“We discussed everything bad or good,” says Golda.
