Potjie fun at Bedfordview Bowling Club

Dishes including beef madras, lamb knuckle, oxtail, beef short-rib and other secret ingredients were prepared from well-guarded recipes to be enjoyed at lunchtime.

Bedfordview Country Club Bowls Section made the most of its Women’s Day celebrations by hosting a potjie competition.

During the celebrations, family and friends had fun while trying their hands at lawn bowls.

Seven teams entered what they hoped would be winning potjies starting their dishes early and getting them on the fires as soon as possible.

 

Entrants of Bedfordview Country Club Bowls Section’s Potjie Competition stand on one of the greens alongside judges as they they wait to hear the results of the competition.

 

Dishes including beef madras, lamb knuckle, oxtail, beef short-rib and other secret ingredients were prepared from well-guarded recipes to be enjoyed at lunchtime.

Bedfordview’s Ward 19 Clr Jill Humphreys and long-standing member Norman Foulkes put their seasoned taste buds and culinary expertise to the test to decide on the winners.

The Potjie Sisters & Mark were declared the winning team.

They walked away with a trophy and the coveted title of BCC Bowls Potjie Champs 2022.
