Dr Moloi spoke to high school learners about the history of the Soweto uprising and the implication and imprint Sacred Heart College’s history had on the struggle and access to education for students of colour.

“Sacred Heart College is part of the greater national unnarrated story,” said Dr Moloi.

He also said that he is writing a book on the history of Sacred Heart College.

South Africa commemorates Youth Day annually in remembrance of the significance of the Soweto uprising and the bravery of those who fought and lost their lives for equality and justice for all who live in South Africa.

Dr Moloi surprised learners and staff at the school with fellow guest Prof Enos Ngutshane.

Ngutshane was one of the thousands of students from Soweto who protested in opposition to Bantu Education, and the institutionalisation of Afrikaans as a language of instruction.

He encouraged learners to take advantage of their privileges to make a South Africa for themselves and generations to come.
