Spokesperson for the Bedfordview SAPS, Sergeant Lillian Modiga, said the robbery occurred shortly after midday.

She said an employee at the pharmacy was working behind the perfume counter when she was approached by a man.

“The man said he wanted a certain perfume which was not available.

“He then requested another type.

“The employee opened the perfume cabinet and took the perfume out,” she said.

Modiga added that the man questioned whether the perfume was new and while the employee was still talking to the ‘customer’ a second man approached the counter and produced a firearm.

She said the employee and others fled the area.

“Two firearms were also recovered. The suspects were detained at Bedfordview Police Station and will appear in court soon,” Modiga said.

She confirmed that no injuries were reported.
