This entails the city’s plans to spend its funds in line with its objectives, needs and priorities.

The IDP plan is informed by public opinion and the Growth and Development Plan 2055, which is the city’s long-term plan.

The GDS is broken down into short term goals, which is the IDP. The IDP process process allows municipalities to prepare a strategic development plan that covers a five-year period.

It includes, planning, budgeting, resource allocation and decision-making by the municipality.

The public participation process in turn allows communities to have a say in the formulation of the strategic document and implementation plan.

As part of the public consultation process, the city will host public meetings throughout the region which commenced on April 5 and will continue until April 24.

Residents can visit all public libraries, customer care centres and the city’s website at www.ekurhuleni.gov.za to view the draft IDP and budget that includes the tariff structure.

All comments and input on the draft IDP and budget can be emailed to budgettips@ekurhuleni.gov.za

The closing date for comments is April 29.For more information email sam.kgatla@ekurhuleni.gov.za or katlego.mokwena@ekurhuleni.gov.za
