Col Nzuza bids farewell to Edenvale

Outgoing station commander of Edenvale Police Station Eunice Nzuza has encouraged the community of Edenvale to continue working together following her recent rank promotion and appointment as station commander at Primrose Police Station.
At the start of the year, Nzuza was promoted to the rank of colonel by Ekurhuleni district commissioner Lt-Gen Anna Sithole in Springs.
She will start her new appointment in Primrose on February 1, the same day Edenvale’s new station commander, Col Ntombomzi Edith Basholo, takes over the reins.
Speaking on her promotion, Nzuza said she was grateful and overwhelmed.
“There are no words to explain how I am feeling. I am so grateful that God and management of SAPS recognised me as a capable leader,” said Nzuza.
Before her promotion, Nzuza had served 17 years as a lieutenant-colonel.
She joined the SAPS at the Pretoria West training college on January 12, 1994. After completing her training, Nzuza was assigned to Edenvale Police Station.
In the early 2000s, after receiving a promotion, Nzuza was transferred to Kempton Park SAPS before moving back to Edenvale Police Station at the start of December 2004.
“Becoming a police officer was always a calling for me,” said Nzuza.
“I always admired police officers, the uniform. I had always wanted to serve the community.”

Nzuza said she enjoys knowing when the community knows when they feel safe and that one of her biggest highlights as acting station commander was bringing the community together.
She also introduced weekly prayer meetings, with the assistance of local churches, for Edenvale’s crime fighters.
“My wish is that the SAPS, the CPF and security companies continue working together. The community looks to Edenvale’s law enforcement for leadership.”
She emphasised that although stakeholders need to work together, the community and churches need to continue supporting the SAPS under the leadership of Basholo.
“By working together, the SAPS and the community can achieve a sense of security.”
Nzuza said she enjoyed working with the community during her time at Edenvale SAPS.
“As the station commander, I had a very good relationship with the chairperson of Edenvale CPF. I look forward to establishing similar and new relationships in Primrose.”
“I have already met with the management of Primrose Police Station and the chairperson of Primrose CPF and look forward to building strong relationships in the community.
“I will miss the members of Edenvale SAPS and the Edenvale CPF chairperson greatly. They will all have a special place in my heart.”
Nzuza encouraged the SAPS members to continue doing the good work they have done.
“Support the next station commander and always have faith in God.”
