Campbell announces members of mayoral committee

"To continually improve and remain accountable to residents and businesses, my newly appointed Mayoral Committee and I will undergo a system of rigorous performance assessment."

City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) executive mayor Ald Tania Campbell announced the new Members of Mayoral Committee (MMC) yesterday.

“The mayoral committee consisting of ten members are ready to go. My multi-party mayoral committee’s combined institutional knowledge and skill set will map the way forward, and everything we do, will be in the best interests of the communities of Ekurhuleni,” said Campbell.

The mayoral committee has been established in line with the current structure of departments within the city.

“To continually improve and remain accountable to residents and businesses, my newly appointed Mayoral Committee and I will undergo a system of rigorous performance assessment on a frequent basis. These assessments will be conducted within the framework of outcome-based service delivery outputs – built on the commitment to fighting corruption and the unwavering purpose of serving the citizens of Ekurhuleni.

“We are already hard at work, stabilising the institution and will soon begin to address the infrastructure backlogs. I will, in the coming days, convene a joint meeting with my mayoral committee and the heads of departments, as well as the city manager, to ensure our multi-party coalition’s vision is implemented and all our communities’ benefit,” said Campbell.

“I have already addressed the long-standing valuation role matter with the city manager and the group chief financial officer and they have assured me the matter is urgently being addressed. “With the ongoing power outages gripping our city, I will immediately task the MMC for Water, Sanitation and Energy to undertake an audit and meet with the relevant stakeholders to stabilise our electricity grid.

“I note the increased cases of vandalism and criminality against the city’s energy infrastructure. And I condemn this in the strongest terms! I appeal to communities to report any acts of vandalism to the city’s call centre,” said Campbell.
