St Benedict’s learners give back to Hospice

“St Benedict’s is an annual supporter of Hospice East Rand, but this year the Bennies family really outdid themselves.”

Learners, parents and staff from St Benedict’s College cleaned out their cupboards for a good cause when they supported Hospice East Rand’s Bring-A-Thing Campaign.

With spring in the air, the school donated second-hand items to the NPO in September.

The campaign encourages learners to donate household items they no longer need to Hospice for the NPO to resell in its charity shops.

“Money made from items sold in our charity shops goes directly into our organisation to support community members with life-limiting illnesses, especially those not fortunate enough to have a medical aid,” said Jonquil Siepman, marketing and media liaison for Hospice East Rand.

“St Benedict’s is an annual supporter of Hospice East Rand, but this year the school outdid themselves.”

She said the donations received by Hospice and the kindness shown by the school was overwhelming.

“Hospice is immensely grateful for the support. We cannot thank them enough,” said Jonquil.
