Spiritual leaders come together at Edenvale

Lt-Col Eunice Nzuza thanked the ECPF and church leaders for their role in the fight against crime.

Church leaders from Edenvale met at Edenvale Police Station for a prayer meeting with the Edenvale CPF.

Held on August 6, the meeting was the seventh of its kind.

Edenvale SAPS spokesperson Sgt Jacob Mashile said the initiative was a directive of national police commissioner Lt-Gen Khehla Sithole.

Mashile said the focus of the meetings was to repair injured spiritual values in the community and to collaborate on fighting crime.

Acting station commander Lt-Col Eunice Nzuza thanked the ECPF and church leaders for their role in the fight against crime.

ECPF chairperson Sheryl Damerell said the meetings are open to any denomination and community members as they are for the benefit of the community.

“It’s time that the community stands together once more in unity,” said Damerell.

Mashile said the SAPS will visit the churches within its precincts.

Damerell added when the SAPS visits the churches, it will allow congregations to interact with the officers.

ECPF member, church leader and facilitator of the meetings Mervyn Chetty said the meetings have grown since the initiative started.
