Electricity theft is a threat to all
The City of Ekurhuleni released a statement in which it stated that as part of its drive to curb illegal electricity theft, the City has removed at least 24 000 illegal connections between July 2020 and January 2021.
During the same period the City issued 941 fines for tampering with or bypassing electricity meter boxes.
Electricity theft includes electricity meter box tampering by bypassing cables and illegal connections from infrastructures such as electrical poles and municipal buildings.
