Corinthians to reopen after lockdown

“We pride ourselves with knowledge of the game and enjoy working with the youth and respected coaches.”

After the green light was given for amateur sports clubs to re-open and resume operations, Corinthians Football Club is ready to kick things off.

The football club welcomes all players and has teams from age five to seniors. The club aims to always improve the level of coaching and employed two technical directors to oversee the day-to-day coaching of their players.

Dimitri Athanasopoulos and Tiro van Rooyen are young, passionate football professionals who have high-level qualifications and wish to help Corinthians players achieve greatness on and off the field.

“We pride ourselves on knowledge of the game and enjoy working with the youth and respected coaches. “We retain multi-faceted expertise built over a decade of involvement in football and youth development,” said Athanasopoulos.

Athanasopoulos and van Rooyen hold a lifelong passion for sports, participating first as players and transitioning later into coaches, balancing this alongside a dedication to community service.

Van Rooyen has been involved with the national teams by assisting the national team coaches and is imparting this expertise to the Corinthians FC coaches.

The club invited its old members as well as anyone who is looking for a new club to come through and experience the new coaching programme that will be implemented at the club this season, as well as the Black Aces Youth Development Academy, which also plays from the Greek Sporting Club.

All the players at Corinthians strive to reach this level. The academy has four teams, u-13, u-15, u-17 and u-19. This academy has had success, with many players going on to play professional football both in SA and abroad.

The club also announced it had acquired a SAB team (fourth tier of SA football) which gives their players a progression path from the club through the Black Aces Youth Development Academy into the SAB squad. Players born in 2008 who are interested in playing for the Black Aces Youth Development Academy must contact Tony Dias on 082 336 4539.

Corinthians FC takes the safety and wellbeing of all their members very seriously and therefore follows all the Covid-19 protocols as set out by the Safa.

The club was certified by the Easterns Local Football Association for Covid-19 Compliance Regulations.
